Nordskoven

Nordskoven lies as a broad promontory in a bend in the Gudenå River, where the landscape is characterized by beech forest

The Langsø trip is 7 km, but is not a marked route.

A path has been made around the eastern part of Silkeborg Langsø.
If you start at Den Gamle Papirfabrik in the middle of town, the path leads over the medieval castle grounds of Silkeborg Castle.

The rest of the trip goes through the forest along the south side of the lake. On the north path, you can follow the Trækstien, which in the first history of the city of Silkeborg was used to transport goods via the river from Randers to Silkeborg.
Langsøen is surrounded by reed swamps and has a very rich birdlife. In the winter, you can see large shell swallower and troll duck and in the summer grebe and kingfisher.

Hårup Sande is a 4 km trip.

The pine forest in Hårup Sande was planted on the protruding sand to stop sand drift. Today it is an exciting forest with rare animals and plants.

The area is particularly known for its good mushrooms, but there is much else here, e.g. rare lichen and five-rowed wolf's foot. Schoubyes Sø was dug when there was a lack of fill at the construction site for the Ring Road.
Today, the area is a much-visited excursion destination and also a breeding ground for thousands of toads and a drinking place for forest animals.

The hill trip is 7 km.

From the city and from the various parking lot along the roads, you can go up into the hills in the forest. A trip from Dronningestolen over Langdalsåsen, Birkehøj and Ulvehoved to Lovisehøj requires some fitness.

But here you can experience thickets of spruce, pine and beech alternating with one beautiful vantage point after another. On the return trip, you can go under the track and down to Brassø and follow the paths back towards the city.
